The Challenge
Townhome rear yard with 2.5ft drop at the back fence — small space (18x20) but the grade made it unusable. HOA approved hardscape in writing but limited to 2.5ft wall height.
Our Approach
Single retaining wall at back of yard at exactly 2.5ft (within HOA limit), leveled and paved 360 sq ft of EP Henry paver behind the wall, and installed a built-in propane fire table on one corner.
The Outcome
Seven days. The townhome backyard now has a flat usable patio and a built-in fire table. For a small space, the result feels complete and private.
This retaining wall + fire feature was completed in Herndon, VA — Worldgate. P&L Outdoor Solutions serves homeowners across Northern Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley — including Leesburg, Ashburn, McLean, Great Falls, and more.

“We had a 20x18 backyard that was half unusable because of the grade drop. Victor fixed it in a week. Now we have a flat patio with a fire table — more than we expected for the space and budget.”
Townhome projects can be tricky — tight access, HOA limits, small space. Victor worked within every constraint and still delivered something we're proud of. The fire table was a great suggestion.

“Victor came out, looked at our drainage nightmare, and said "we can fix this and make it beautiful." Two other contractors just quoted us a patio and ignored the water problem. He solved both.”
“The fire pit looks like it was built 50 years ago and has always been there. That's exactly what we wanted. Victor understood the rural aesthetic immediately and nailed it.”
“Engineers wanted $90K to excavate. Victor designed a three-tier wall system that cost half that and gave us three beautiful outdoor spaces instead of a flat wasteland. The man knows his stuff.”
